So I got out of school early today, went home, was bored, went to Chatfield. I haven't gotten around to fishing the spillway this year, so I fished it, even though it's barely flowing. I caught one tiny bass just off the rocks. Nothing else was happening, so I hit the dog ponds. One other guy was fishing and caught a few small crappie (on minnows I think), but the fishing was slow. I was lazy, so I did the classic worm and bobber method. I caught one sunfish and the smallest bass I have ever caught. I think this may beat some of the other ones. It was fun, but the fishing sucks at the dog ponds and spillway right now.

I swear I caught the guy in the bottom photo earlier this summer in the dog ponds. Glad tosee that he's grown into a whopper.

the spillway fishes well year round....just have to be there at the right time.....I was up there last night and seen a couple cats that were pushing 20lbs.

When you guys say the spillway do you mean the outlet where the river starts or the water that is just west of there? I went to the water that looks like a big square where the water would flow if there was a massive flood filling chatfeild completely. It looked about 2 feet deepall the way is why I ask. Does it get deeper the farther out you cast, i was there at night and could not tell.
