Fished off the shore just west of the marina from 9am until about 2pm.  Landed a decent sized smallmouth within 30 minutes using a green floating jig tipped with a leech.  Got a few more good bites off the leeches but only ended up landing the one bass.  Once they stopped hitting the leeches we used nightcrawlers and powerbait to catch a couple stocker rainbows.  The weather was very gloomy, with a nice breeze and the occational mist/rain showers.  Air Temp was mid 40's.  Not the most successful day but hey, im used to getting skunked at chatfield.  Heres a picture of the smallmouth i caught... first of the year.

Welcome,

I know how that skunk smell is out at chatfield. Son of Dan and I are going out in the boat tonight. Should be a nice night for some 'Eyes!

Do post Dan-

Nice bass, gota start the year off somehow. I've heard of people getting walleyes from shore over there, maby you were just a hit away from one. If you like the smallies go walk the dam sometime, they can get thick over there-

good luck-

We picked up a Walleye and Smallie last night. The walleye was 19.5 the smallie was about 12. I got smaller deadsticking a minnow in 12 feet of water on my "Sandy Squirrel" pole. My son got the Walleye on black turtle back worm slow trolled in 14 feet of water during twilight.
