Went to chatfield yesterday trying for walleye. Not too surprised I didnt catch one as I'm still trying to figure the lake out. I noticed alot of people fishing the dam and the point by the south marina but never saw anyone catching anything. Beautiful day and not many ignorant boaters, water temp was about 54 degrees. Anyone else do any good?

i fished it yesterday. caught 10, 2 keeppers. they're not on the dam during the day. offshore structure, ie: road/clambeds. the fish are there and they do bite. in a neutral to negative mode. if you put it in the face they snap it up. i started at 10a and quit at 4p. i also got hit by another boat! i almost prefer the PWC to ski boats/30+' ocean going yachts with their massive wakes that almost toss you out the boat! oh well... i still caught fish. i'm trying not to rant, but, my biggest concern is ofor the people in the smaller boats, and there were plenty, that they are going to get capsized. chatfield is a dangerous lake when it's nice weather on a sunday and NOT A RANGER BOAT OUT AT ALL EXCEPT WHEN IT BECAME CLOUDY AND STARTED TO RAIN AFTER ALL THE FOR MENTIONED VESSELS/DRIVERS HAD LEFT THE LAKE. sorry...had to get that out.

Something really must be done, and there is absolutely no reason for 32+ ft boats to be on that lake. It is nearing a critical mass point where vessel saturation and outsize boats are a substantial hazard to all other park users.

Someone is going to get hurt.

it sucks, but, there's probably going to take/be a major accident or dare i say, DEATH, before some kind of half-way solution to the "problem" is come up with.

There's been a death there and nothing changed, maybe for a while but it's back to the same ole thing. Enforcement needs to be better. I hate Chatfield and CC in the summer, no correct that, I hate the morons at Chaty and CC that show up in the summer. I can't fish there during the peak months cause I'd end up in jail/prison.

Hey, what if all the fishermen bought paint ball guns??????? Non-lethal, can you go to jail for that?

I was out there, had to change plugs in my motor mid lake...........made a big difference. Still did not catch anything, when the clouds rolled in it got nice and chilly.

Saw a few folks catching smallies at the north boat ramps with what looked like minnows under bobbers about 3 feet.

I stay off the metro lakes on the weekends. I try to find other things to do like train dogs, shoot skeet or just work in the yard. WAY too many players on the water for me.
I went out this morning for a couple of hours and caught this 20.5" fatty.

Cripes! That thing looks like it's gonna explode! Were you using inflated worms off the bottom? ;D

They must not be hitting because of indigestion from all those shad! There's even what looks to be stretch marks on his belly

yum! all that walleye yummy goodness!! how do you cook your's? i fillet, then either deep fry with a beer batter, or use a egg and milk drench then dredge in either corn meal or corn flour and pan fry.

I'm pretty sure that's illegal....too bad really.

I am fortunate enough to have a job where I can fish many weekday afternoons. I also try to stay away from pretty much everywhere on weekends.

I really love the cold/ cloudy/ foggy/ rainy upslope days like we had last week because the fishing is usually good and there's NO-ONE out anywhere...at least no yahoos in yachts/ ski boats/ and jet-skis.

Yeah, im one of the guys on the little 17' aluminum boats that almost gets capsized. Thanks for the tips on chatty, I'm not even gonna start on how my day went today on pueblo...well, maybe a little clue...no fish, broken bunk, trailer bearings and wind. :'(
