·I got to the dog ponds and began fishing around 7:00 P.M. My friend was using a yellow crappie ji under and bobber, and I was using a green tube jig. I also threw out some stinkbait on the bottom. I got a bunch of hits on my tube, but I'm sure it was little crappie or blegills, because I couldn't set the hook. Then my line shot out on my catfish rig. I watched and tried to set the hook, but didn't even feel anything. Then we switched spots around 8:00 with the same rigs. My buddy caught a small crappie and I didn't get a hit on my tube. Where were the bass today? We were about to leave when my stinkbait rig started acting up. I had put smaller chunks on the hooks this time so the fish (or whatever was tugging on it) could get the hook better. I waited until I was sure a fish had taken it and set the hook. My rod doubled over for about 5 seconds and the fish got off. I'm guessing it was a carp that got off because of its sft mouth. We packed up and headed home. A guy near us landed a 16 inch walleye and a bunch of crappies on worms under a bobber. I guess my friend's walleye a few months ago wasn't the only one in there. It was a fun couple hours of fishing, and I would really like to fish there at night.
