Great pic bro!!!! Did you say you were using a a floating jig head w/ a minnow?

What weight system were you using? Split Shot, Walking Sinker, Lindey rig?

Also were you trolling or just drifting?

keep up the great reports!!!

Is it me or does that 20 inch walleye look really skinny? What's up with that? Usually those Chatfield walleyes are FAT! Maybe that's why he was eating though.

Regardless that's great fishing!

Nothing was coming out of him,I thought it was pretty fat-maybe the camera angle?Whatever.I was using the electric to drag my rigs slowly across the bottom, maybe 0.8 MPH or so.Basically my rigs are very simple-you got your jigs on the end,and I use split shots of various sizes about 6-12" up depending on what works.I also sometimes use an egg sinker on the line and adjust its position with a smaller split shot. Then just drag 'em!Last saturday they were at about 12-13 ft but monday they were at 9-10 ft.

Slayerfish thanks for reminding me not to be so short sighted early in the season...Monday was my first day back on Chatfield since December...at that time they were in 10 feet...so I headed back to 10 feet only to find the lake is up probably 6 or 7 feet...caught one in 17...thought about going shallower but figured most of that hadnt been under water so instead I joined the "herd" in deeper water...the sad part is I know better...early season walleyes in Minnesota are shallow for the most part...so an important lesson to everyone...dont get too locked in...and dont always follow the herd...so thanks Slayerfish for the reality slap!...early in the season...
