Thanks T! Looks like it is going forward, the last I saw was that the Audubon Society was suing to stop the project.
I like the plan that they went with, keeping the South ponds. The wife and I like to go down there and goof around in our Kayaks. Although that is getting a lot harder to do with all the stand up paddle boarders that think that they own the pond!
Now if they could just leave all the trees when they flood it!:cool2:

This reservoir was NEVER built for water storage...
Needless waste of money to destroy an already viable resource.
For what?
2 out of every 10 years on average?

^^^ I actually agree with Slayer! The new water line will be a new lake, new tactics and new fish I hope! Give the pike new shallow shorelines to spawn!!! :thumb:

Read the info posts...
They are saying that "maybe" they will be able to store extra water ONLY a projected 2 out of EVERY 10 years..
The rest of the time You'll have the "muddy bathtub ring affect"... surrounding the entire shoreline.
AND, I was told by a park official that ALL trees below the 10 ft HI WATER mark would be removed...
That would really stink..

I read all the info, I'm also hoping that with all the millions and millions of dollars being spent on the project that they will keep it at the new level always. Plus I'm banking on this statement from the plan...

Securing Water Storage For Our Future

The Chatfield Reservoir Reallocation Project came about as the result of a growing demand for water in Colorado’s Front Range and on northeast Colorado farms. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) determined Chatfield Reservoir can accommodate an additional 20,600 acre feet of water storage for water supply without compromising its flood control function. This additional storage space will be used by municipal and agricultural water providers to help meet the diverse needs of the state.
Project participants will undertake recreational modifications and environmental mitigations at Chatfield State Park to address the impacts of additional water storage.
