HI All,
This could be good or bad news ... I went to chatfield last night and fished the shallow gravel bar southeast of the swim beach. There were hundreds of 10-12" shad on that bar and while I've never been privy to a shad orgy before I think they were spawning. If the eggs take, there should be lots of food for the fish this summer - not so good for the fisherman dunking their bait/lures with all the natural bait.

PS
After getting skunked by the walleyes I went to the dam and picked up a few little smallmouth in front of the dam using a 2.5" green tube jig in 2-6 feet of water. They are also taking leeches under a bobber - same depth.

Yah, there is a lot of them in King Fisher too. Its ok, harder to fish, but better fatter fish will come out of it.
