I finally got away yesterday and with the weather I did not want to put the boat in so I decided to try the Spillway.

When I got there it was raining so only one other person was on the walk ways. As soon as it stopped they came out of the wood work. It was elbow to elbow fishing. Some people were catching walleye and trout. One guy in particular was killing em.....

Anyway, I could not believe the people that would just crowd in on you while you were trying to fish.

Remember the previous post called "What do you do and think about while you are fishing"?

Well, yesterday, I was wondering if the guy (I just call him SOB since I don't know his name) 2 feet next to me who kept tangling my line could swim.......

I mean, I understand that this is a "hot spot" right now, but,,,,, please show some consideration to others who are also trying to fish.... ;)

When that starts happening I intentionally start cutting lines "Oh man sorry it was tangled bad and I guess I broke it".

Did you catch anything?

Yeah,

I caught 2 16 inch walleyes and a stocker. I seen one guy who must have had his limit in about 20 minutes. I am going back out today in the boat on the lakeside.

I'm not familiar with Chatfield, but it sounds like a place to stay away from, at least on the weekends. I believe I'd rather fish a stream or lake all day and catch one or two fish alone, than fish with a crowd without manners and catch a fish on every cast.

I went out to cherry creek right after the rain went away. Me and my homeboi were the 3rd and 4th person on the dam. An hour later there was about 20 people on the dam. The fifth guy that came out decided to sit right next to us. He must of thought cherry creek was having a fish salvage cause he tossed out four poles lol haha what a joke. Oh yea i have been telling you guys about big wipers coming out of cherry creek, in todays paper there is an article about it in the sports section. Anyways nothing was going on so i decided to walk to dam to see if any one was catching. No catching, I meet a guy named mark and he invited me to go to the spillway. So we got there around 10pm, WOW elbow to elbow fishing for real. Found a spot with space jumped in and mark caught one within 5 casts. Fished till 130am I ended up with one my buddy 1, he lost 3 right by his feet. Thanks again mark if your reading this. I didnt get to go to Big Mac cause of the rain but the day ended up being good got some fishing in.

We were out there this am never got very close to the actual out outlet. Maybe 150 yards or so, but that was because my son and I are "courteous". Wish I had known some of you guys were there, would have been nice to place a face with the name.

This is the great advantage of being retired. I don't even try to go to well-known "good spots" on weekends anymore. Last time I did that it was elbow to elbow and reel to reel; plus, if you do catch one, the others usually won't even give you the courtesy of reeling in to give your fish room to run sideways. Nice to be able to go on weekdays.

Thats another perk about working nights too. Skip sleeping after work go fishing then come home and sleep tell work. Cant do this to often though the women folk get upset.

Lurp,

It was not me yesterday. I was out on the main lake of Chatfield in my boat playing "THE DEADLIEST CATCH" with the other 400+ boats, wave runners, canoes, water skiers, mermaids, ect...

We did have a lot of fun though. I didn't catch any fish which was okay since I didn't have to worry about throwing some rude SOB (since I don't know their name) off of the spillway.

You should have been out in the rain on Saturday, probably less than 10 boats. When the sun came out around 3p it got a little busier but not bad. I love bad weather on weekends at Chatfield!

Was not bad when we left the park at noon on Sunday, mostly fishing boats then but the boats were heading in to the park when I left.

We fished the dam between the tower and the boat cove on Saturday night from about 8p till 10p. The smallies are hitting good along their. You can get them from the shore or a boat. They were hitting lures, minnows and crawlers. Most are 10 inches or so but there are some big ones lurking in there. I pulled in a 15 incher, weighing 2 1/2 - 3 pounds. Nice fish! If I could figure out a way to post video I would put it on!

DAmmmmnnnnnnnnnnnn i went last night about 6 it was way to crowded. One of my friends caught 5 he was fishing on the bottom with leeches the other friend caught 2 with a jig but the was after sunset. I didnt even really fish to crowded for me i just went around talking to people. I had on my sweat pants witch didnt have pockets so i put my money inside my backpack. I dont remember what i did, but when i got home i realized my money fell out $200 bucks 10 20's. So somebody last night had themselves a nice catch. With it being so crowded and my bad fortune i dont think im going back there.
