Alright! Not a bad evening.
What parts of Chatfield were you fishing in that you had such good luck????
I hear those Rooster Tails are pretty darn good lures.
Sure wish my wife and I had the luck you had when we were at Chatfield in the morning. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get on the lake until 10:30 AM and not much was happening at that time.

if not much is happing in chatfield cowboy just head right up to the dam nearby the tower and throw live minnows under a bobber for smallies and you will have action nonstop. Most are a little on the small side but you'll still have a blast catching them. And time doesn't matter either, I get to the lake at around 7:00 and don't leave till 1:00 when I run out of minnows!

can u get em from shore walking along the dam, or are they farther out?

yeah there is a path that runs right in middle of the dam, it stops after half a mile or so but if your willing enough you can brave the rocks and keep walking until you find a good spot. my dad and i dont have a boat so this is where we usually go to catch the smallies. but yeah you can keep going after the path ends but BE CAREFUL! some of the rocks are loose so keep your footing. We usually stop and fish right before we get to the tower. As i said in my report above i have the best luck with live minnows and nightcrawlers about 2 ft below a bobber.

Sorry for the lengthy report, be careful and tight lines!
i catch alot of smallmouth by the dam and then i caught some smallmouth and walleye and trout over kinda by the inlet where those logs stick out of the water

I know exactly the place you are talking about I have caught a lot of smallmouth there. I have taken more than one picture of a nice bass there with the tower in the background!
