Hit Chatfield with my wife for about 2 hours late Thursday afternoon.  Just fished the dam near the tower,  caught a few smallies on leeches and one on a minnow.

HIt Cherry Creek about 730p.  not too many boats except sail on the water.  kinda breezy to start.

worked the sunken island, nothing  Started trolling the dam hooked a 12 inch crappie in 14 feet on a silverand blue rattle bait.  was withing 200 yards of tower at that time.  it was around 9p.

worked old channell heading east,  got off the waterski beach and turned toward the marina.  in open water about 24 feet deep trolling at 2.2 mph big hit.  Thought it was a wiper first, It fought like one.  got it to the boat and in the net,  nice big fat walleye,  (dinner tonight) about 21 inches and 3.5 pounds.

Here are some pics.

Was a great night fishing with my son!

GREAT! Was the biggun cought on a leech? 12" crappie is awesome too. Gotta have faith in CC.
Nice walleye! There must be some huge crappie in there - last time I went we caught one a little bigger than yours.
The big walleye we caught is on a camera phone and I will hopefully get the pic on here soon.
If im not mistaken you took my advice and did the beach to marina thru the middle of the lake to catch that walleye? Great looking fish man. Im going out there tomorrow night and again on Tues.

Thanks

-Jay
Yes I did!  I just reversed it!  Thanks for the advice!

Both fish were caught on the same lure! I had a leech out on a bottom bouncer but had nary a hit on it!

I was quite pleased with the walleye, nice fat and legal sized!

Dan
Oh no Dan does catch good sized fish too, not just small ones. Looks like I have to get out there and catch some bigger ones. Good looking fish.
I think that pic should be your new avaitor.

Also, If you have a map of CC it lists the swimbeach as the waterski beach. The waterski beach is just south of the east boatramp. Im guess you were talking about the swimbeach?

NICE!!

Great Catch!! Both the crappie and the walleye are good fish in my book! So how ya gonna cook the walleye?
Dan, nice fish. I'll have to figure out how to get my pics off the phone. After my usuall "eyes" from Lonetree and Boyd, I still can't believe how solid these "Creek" eyes are. "and tasty" We beer battered and deep fried a couple of em' Wed night. Pan fried a couple more last night in butter, dipped in egg and flour, season to taste. Salt, pepper, & some garlic salt. Man do I love walleyes!!!!!! Also make a pretty mean "Walleye Chowder" once it gets alittle colder out.
I dont see any leaves on trees....

Thats what I did. Used a map, But you know how things are in the dark Real hard to get any reference points. So based on what I could see I went with what the map said. But whatever its called I used your advice and it worked!

Any one else fish out there at night. I was suprised by the fact there were only a half dozen boats after dark and three of them had no lights on. All you could see was a dark silhoutte and lots of laughing. Kinda like foghorn i guess. But it was irritating when a fish would pop up a hundred feet in front of you and they were trolling. If it was not for the talking and laughter I never would have known they were there.

Dan
Thats why we light them up with our spotlight. We're going out there tomorrow night hope we have some luck like you did. Hope all the yahoos are gone by sundown

-Jay
You must be a good fisherman indeed to catch something out of cherry creek, some people I know on the east slope say it sucks this year.
Hope all the yahoos are gone by sundown
If that wish comes true on holiday weekend you should play the lotto too! I hope they are gone too. I wish I could meet you there, but I gotta work the next day!

You must be a good fisherman
I don't know if I am that good TFB, I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to fish several days a week and if you do it often enough eventually you catch nice fish.

Dan
We'll be out there around 9:00 if you want to waste a few hours

-Jay
I assume you mean 9p, and fishing is never wasted time.
