OK THIS IS MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT POSTING A FISHING REPORT... SO HERE IT GOES;
MY O'L PAL & I PUT IN GRANBY PROMTLY AT 1030HRS. BEGIN TROLLING IN 2' & 3' WAVES AS 2 BOATERS ARE TAKING OFF THE WATER. NOT THAT GREAT BUT WE'LL GIVE IT A SHOT. ABOUT 2HRS LATER NO FISH AND A FEW DOWNRIGGER MISHAPS LATER... (I SWEAR I NEED LEASONS!) WE HEAD FOR THE INLET (I HAVE TO SHOW MY PAL I CAN CATCH FISH W/THIS OVER PRICED BOAT). 1/2 WAY IN WE FIND SOME RAINBOW'S ON COWBELLS & WORMS. ENDING UP W/28 OF E'M. 12-15" W/2 @ 20". OH... & MY FIRST KOKE EVER WAY BACK NEAR THE END OF THE CHANNEL. THIS IS ALL DONE ON FLATLINE TROLL W/ FIRELINE/COWBELLS/NIGHT CRAWLERS. IF I KNEW WHAT I WAS DOING? I WOULD BE EVEN HAPPIER!

TAL0362,
THANX FOR THE INFO... I REALLY WANT TO LEARN "THE ART OF TROLLING" BUT THESE DOWNRIGGERS KICK MY A$#! MY 10LB WEIGHTS LOOK LIKE CHEWED BUBBLE GUM BY THE TIME I'M FINISHED. I JUST NEED TO GET OUT THERE MORE OFTEN THAT'S ALL THERE IS TO IT.

That was a very good report... might try with out the caps next time but all in all very good. Trolling just takes practice practice and practice the more you do it the more you read about it and the more you see people do it the better you will become.

Cojones,

I might also recommend that you start a new topic -- use the "New Topic" button from the page that lists all the topics in a particular category. This way, you would be sure that replies are sent to reference your report and not Jay_In_Parker's, for example.

Good report, I can help with trolling and downrigger issues as well as many others on this board. You may want to ask specific questions about things that aren't working so well and we will give it our best shot.

Cojones,

Wow, Dang, jeepers! You weren't supposed to go out and catch 28. Especially the first time on your over priced boat. I'm thinking I should have paid a little more for my boat now.

Since I have a new found sickness about trolling deep water ive been reading alot and thought you maybe would find some use of this seeing how I could never pull it off on my boat: http://www.lakemichiganangler.com/tips/downrigger.htm

I agree with Piker that vertical jiggin is the way to go.You get to feel the bite and set the hook.Although when its real windy,its very hard to vertical jig.I always anchor the boat when at granby in various known areas and jig and have done quite well.If no wind then I use the electric to stay on top of them.I dont fish very deep water,only 25-35 ft. in the spring and fall.

Now that is one heck of a web site... Thanks for the link Jay. I've been in the office reading it so late into the night my wife swears I'm on the porno.

Has anybody trolled those squid like imitations at Granby?
