Ya, they fight good. But they are really finicky. Rapalas do good, but since there are millions of minnows in there they are pretty wary of different things. If you fish lures use those with sunfish or bluegill patterens. Otherwise, black spinner bait work well. One other method I use that is very old school is I put either a white or red pork rind ( The straight kind, about 5inches long and 1/2 inch wide) on a Johnson's spoon. The bass there love it. It also used to catch pike there in the late '70's and early '80's before they disappeared.

Re: Next State Bass Record?

No kidding! My dad collects old fishing stuff and actually goes there to add to it. I was in there a month ago and found a Peco Perch and an old Arbogast Lure. I left to tell my wife in the car and get the okay to buy them and when I returned my dad had just finished buying them! (L'il sucker!) But you can get Johnson Minnow spoons at Sportmen's Warehouse in Loveland.

Re: Next State Bass Record?

My dad inherited his grandfathers' lure collection when he died. My great-grandfather was a professional bass fisherman in Nebraska. My dad has old plugs going all the way back to the turn of the 20th century. He has two huge display cases full of them.
