I have seen the exact same thing happen on my favorite bass water. The minute a dragonfly lands, or even a damselfly, it gets demolished. I mean usually not two seconds after it lands on the water. Bass will even slash and boil at ones that are flying several feet over the water. This occurs even during the middle of the day.
