catfishing is slowing down now with me still catching some at a hole 1 mile from my house now and then. Caught several up to 6 pounds in the last month or so. All on chicken livers. also caught many roundtail chubs, a few carp, and a few bullheads. The smallmouth have stopped biting. Got a tip from a local who caught a smallmouth that was almost certainly a state record from the river this year-- 23" and obese he said-- and even though I only fished for them once I didn't get anything. The smallmouth pop is just starting to get strong with a largemouth population up and coming.

yep. They've only been euthanizing them the last couple of years too. It will be GREAT for them in a few years. Should release all smallie caught out of here.

Great cats. I and most other locals will be thrilled once Smallies take off. The canyon on the Gunnison below my house in Delta would be magnificent for smallmouth.
