Colorado Springs Bass Ponds

I'd like to preface saying that I'm not asking for specific spots.

I’ve been teaching myself how to fish this year in an attempt to get in to healthier habits, so I’m sorry if these are stupid questions. I’ve been searching on the forum but haven’t really found info that I’m looking for.

I live in Colorado Springs and really would like to target Bass. The public spots around here are pretty much stocker trout (slimers I think y’all call them?). Prospect has a lot of different species, but… it’s Prospect… if you know what I mean. John Townsend looks decent, but haven’t had a chance to fish it because of some issues with the permit I bought.

I know some of the reservoirs up North and Pueblo have some good bass spots, but I’m trying to find something that isn’t an hour away

I’ve been on Google Earth and have been marking small pond size bodies of water that I’d like to scope out. Before I go on this hunt I’d like to find out my chances of finding something viable.

My questions are (and again, I’m not looking for anyone to give up specific spots):

-Do you think it’s likely that any small ponds in CO Springs would have bass?
-What’s the best way to find out if I can fish said ponds? GIS Website?
-Has anyone had luck fishing for bass in smaller spots in the Springs? (Again, don’t need specifics, just generally speaking)

What really sucks, is I know of ONE... I have plenty of trout info to help with!!! :biggrin1:
lol I hear ya. *sigh*
There really are no good bass fishing spots in CS. Trust me, I've tried.
Springs is a shite-hole.
Please expound upon why it is a shite hole? Not liberal enough, too many DoD jobs, too crowded, etc? I was stationed here 13 years, lived here as a civilian for 9 years now, and I like it here. I like it because there are many hiking opportunities, it's not far from Denver (without being too close), I have many employment opportunities, and I have good friends here.
There is a pond behind loves on mesa parkway that has bass. Not many but I C&R a couple with babies in the belly.
Springs ponds and lakes get hammered just like everywhere else. There are no top-secret public areas. The trick is to put in work and don't be afraid to try something different when targeting pressured fish and don't blab about everything you catch.

Handle them with care when/if you catch one and be sure to practice CPR or the few decent fish that are still there won't be....

Well put.

Quail lake has bass, trout, catfish, pike it's west of Tensiltown Movie Theater up the hill. Fish by the cattails on the west end and you'll find Some bass.
