I'm looking for a local lake that has bass I can shore fish with my kids any ideas?

Prospect pond for Piranha, hard drugs and sexual assault.
There really isn't a good option in CS. There are some ponds off I-25 in Widefield/Security-Hwy 16 but they are marginal. Same with Quail lake.
Your best option would be to get a pass to go on Ft Carson-they have two lakes that are decent for bass-getting a pass is not easy-background check etc. If you are military of course theres no problem.
