Wife and I headed out for a long week away from our monsters in mid may.

We found a few good spots to toss a fly. I never went out to the salt...too much to do. Wife had 2 interviews while we were there, so fishing took a back seat.

We did manage to get Ruth here first Tarpon on a fly rod....baby it was, and that's all there was. I did catch a 6 lb snook but no camera...argh. Lot's of mayan sickos, oscars, tilapia and baby tarpon made it tons of fun for a 3 minute walk from the pavement.

I sure love it down there. Naples has poor food but other than that it was a wicked trip again to FL. I have not been fishing hardly at all since my last contract started and it sure was nice to be on the water with the only person who will hang out with me.

Lots of quiet cruising and a great way to get to fish.

It's always a blessing to fish with my better half. Hope everyone is having good fishing times!

I was using a 690 sp and it was not stiff enough to really get a good set even on these smaller fish...they hold the fly so hard and their mouth is bone so needless to say I had a lot of fish come off in the air when the opened their mouth.

I was also using small crazy charlies I had for bones and such but the right hook would have been no problem with the 6 wt. The baby's are a kick on light tackle for sure.

I am headed back down in a few weeks, hope to get out a little farther this time. I may not come back.
