What do you guys think about it, I have seen some things and items of them in the newspaper and they have some pretty good stuff and items on sale, etc.

But its not open yet.......!

They are OK, i guess, but i still prefer sportsmans warehouse or ganders...they have a better selection and better prices i think. Dicks is pretty much just like what Galyans used to be...
I prefer Sportsman's Warehouse at this point, at least until the Thornton Gander Mountain is better stocked. Dick's selection is quite limited in my experience compared to those others. This is all based on experience from stores in the north metro area, btw.
Dicks is good for anything BUT fishing supplies. They don't want to carry the inventory or re-stock the smaller less expensive items like other places do. I work by the Flatirons Mall (which has a Dicks Sporting Goods) and know if I wipe out a slot of one type of plastics, spinners or line...it won't be restocked for 2 to 6 months.

Sportsmans or Gander Mountain will have it restocked that day in most cases.

Dicks caters more to the "fashionable" sports. If you need a pair of running shoes, sweat pants or latest Nike shirts...Dicks has you covered. ;)
I agree with Rottal.  That will probably change when Bass Pro and Cabelas opens.
I'd rather shop at the little mom and pop stores here in the springs for my fishing gear. The small local stores seem to have anything and everything you can think of including stuff that works best in Colorado. Although they have isles of stuff at Dicks, it seems like the shelves are empty and lots of stuff that doesnt work well here. Usually the same stuff at Dicks, is cheaper at walmart.
I'm pretty unimpressed with the Dicks here in CS. The manager at Sportmans Warehouse off 225 told me they are gonna open one in the Springs-I can't wait. Sportmans of course has a much better selection. Ed

I'd have to go with this to... but they have some crazy sales sometimes 75-90% off. But like everyone mentioned fishing inventory is very limited.

good luck getting any advice there too!
The only times I go to Dicks Sporting Goods is to check on what's on sale. If I see an isle with Rapalas or fishing line for 50% then I'll pick up a bunch. Other than that, I spend the extra buck at Gander and Sportsman's. Plus I like to browse around through the various selections and those two places are the only ones I could do that. Sometimes I'll stop by those stores just for fun and look at "ooh shiney" stuff that I plan to buy.
They are definitely gauged for sports other than fishing. Shopping there sales is definitely the way to go, as for help from the sales staff, most of the people they hire really don't know a lot about fishing. Every once in a while you run into someone who is knowledgable, but most of the time............

i shop there cuz i work next door in the mall, its close to me and they have the basics, i dont wanna spend more on gas than fishing lures, so i go there, if i really need something they dont have i make the sportsmans trip, i also go to sportsmans just cuz i like all the trophies on the wall
i still like academy's. here in texas i live about an hour from the bass pro but sometimes their price can be pretty hefty. personally i go to walmart to buy all my fishing stuff

oh yeah baby, academy, i come from houston, haha, that was such a sweet spot, goodf fishin stuff
