Can anyone tell me what exactly is a Doll Fly? Is there another type other than the type fly fisherman use? Any input would be appreciated.

Good Fishin!

What we used to use as doll flies were jig heads, like you use with twister tail, except they had hair or feathers tied on to them.

The original Doll flies were leadhead jigs with bucktail. They had/have a good action but fell out of favor witih the introduction of plastics.

we used to use little ones (1/16 oz or smaller) for crappies, perch, and bluegill. The ones tied with marabou feathers seemed to work great vertically jigged. tip a bigger one with a minnow for walleyes and smallies.
