I just read over the net that Ernie Schweibert passed away Dec 10. "Back in the day" he was the man as far as flyfishing goes. He was an internationally acclaimed architect who was just as famous in fishing circles. Matching the Hatch, Nymphs were some of his books. 15 years ago I listened to him lecture in Denver. He said that fishing as we know it was threatened - and though he was a fly fishing "purist" it had nothing to do at all with bait fishing vs fly/lure. He very eloquently stated that the most important issue was water quality. John

One of the greats; fly fisherman and author. Just finished "A River for Christmas," a great read.

I have an early revision of his book - the anecdotal stories were great and his entymological knowledge was first rate. I highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in flyfishing.

May he rest in peace.
