I got to spend a week in the Laramie River valley chasing elk and fly fishing. The elk hunting didn't go so well. We saw lots of elk and had a great time, but for the first time since 1993, we didn't harvest any bulls. I did get a chance to get out with the fly rod several times to Honholz Lake and the browns and cutthroats were in the fall feeding mode. Soft hackle bead head nymphs produced well on three different afternoons. The fish in Honholz are in great shape and and good fighters. The browns were spawning and their colors were amazing.

I'm guessing it must be the upper lake. I haven't been there in several years but there used to be a lot of good sized fish in that upper lake.

These fish were caught in the upper lake. There are some good size rainbows and cutthroats in the lower lake also.
