I'm in the same boat as you! I don't have any bad credit at all, I just don't have any credit. So I have to start at the bottom. I just went and got a secured credit card from Norlarco that they report to the credit unions as unsecured. Then Thunder Mountain has a first time buyers program for people who don't have much credit, it is for new Sportsters only tho. They just look at your credit for at least ONE show for credit. So in a few months when I start showing a little credit I am going to go over there and get another bike (even tho I just got one a couple of days ago!), I'll get a brand new 2006 Sportster 1200 Custom.

i was in the same boat... but i picked up a 2001 isuzu rodeo a little over a week ago. and i've got bad credit myself. i went to A-1 Auto sales over on Havana about one-two blocks up from Illiff. They were pretty decent to deal with there, and got me approved at one of the banks they deal with. I did get shafted with a high interest rate though. They even offer 3 month warranty's on their vehicles, for free. Mostly suv's, light trucks on the lot. It's a small lot. maybe give them a shot? :)

With bad credit you need to have a fairly large down payment and be prepared for high intrest rates. It doesn't take long to fix your credit just be on time paying everything for 6 months and you'll be alright. I went thru all this when I was younger.....They shouldn't give 18 year old kids credit cards.

They are getting tougher, even with a large down payment. I went into Thunder Mountain a week and a half ago with $6,000 to put down on a $11,000 bike and I still got turned down for financing the rest. That was over half the price of the bike and I still got turned down!

My advice would be to find a decent by here pay here place ( if that's possible) and finance there. Keep the car for a year. In that time join a credit union. In one year refinance with the credit union. Also credit unions have programs that can help your credit in that time like pre- paid loans. They do help.

Good luck!

a couple of things before you go to a dealer to help your chances:

have an open checking AND savings acct.
have at least 8 weeks proof of pay earnings
have proof of address (utility bill is perfect)
have $1000 to put down

if you do these 4 things, you shouldnt be turned down unless you have repos on yur credit

things to expect:
be prepared for a high interest rate, pick a vehicle that will worth something in 72 months and take great care of it.
with special financing, you won't be able to get anything older than 5 years old and/or over 100k miles. Thats why so many get sucked into kias, cavaliers, and escorts. Not to knock those cars, theyre nice, but in 2010 do you really want to have to sink 300/m still on an 06 kia?

Good luck!

insurance....if your under 20 and financing a car, youll have to carry comp and coll w/no higher than 500 deductible.

if you have liablility only right now, expect at least another 100-200 per month more for the addtl coverages on the new veh.

so many things to consider, prepare well
