when camping in some improved or ammenity camp grounds (up west of ft. collins in rossevelt nf), any info on where to buy reasonably priced fire wood - i don't need a cord, just a few bundles.  obviously you can't find too much scouring the camp grounds nor can you cut down stuff.

You can get a smaller truckload in many places for 50-60 bucks and store it at your house, or safeways and King soopers sell it for 1.99 a bundle as well.

Try Bustamont's in Longmont,, right on the diagonal hwy. I think they sell 1/4 cords of firewood

Tomcat-If you want to save some $ just go to a construction site for new homes or commercial. Thjey usually have a bunch of pieces and whatever you take is just less for them to throw away. Its not a "pretty" as split pine or aspen but its free. Free is good. Ed

The other trick that works really well is to buy a box of the DuraFlame type logs and use one of those as your starter and base and toss wood on top of it...if you throw inexpensive bbq charcoal in with it the radiant glow and heat thrown off the fire is great and it lasts a LONG time.

I 2nd you Ed. I go around to the local site then cut it down to fit in a small plastic bin or a old milk container. I like the plastic container the best. The one I have has a lid and you know or mountain storms. Having try wood keep the kids in smores and the adults happy when our feet are up and a cold one is in our hands.

Have a great trip
