Started my local pond hopping after work yesterday. Local ponds are still 85% iced. Things do not look good at one of my favorites :( Last winter we lost a gem to winter kill and I am afraid we might have lost another this year. At another spot I had a few small bass follow, and one fish chased my lure as it slid across the ice. Another week or 2 of these temps and I will be fishing daily. I am going to learn how to fish jigs better this year

It's going to be a while up here! Ponds along the river still have 8" of ice. The gap has fishable open water on the east end. And the rest if the lake is still iced with 15-20" if good fish able ice. Things aren't too bad I guess!
