Theres some good fishin in the 'Tops in mid-october.I'd be too busy fishing to haul elk meat but thanx for the chance! I started this topic cause I was on the http://www.iceshanty.com and they were talkin about first ice.Last year this guy in canada(way up in canada) was the first.I KNOW I could be the first if I decide to do it.Hell,I've done it before,snowshoed to 12,200 ft off Guanella Pass in Early November,packed the hand auger and the poopy suit and ice fished for about 4 hrs. The ice was ~16 inches thick already! Unfortunately I got skunked.It really wouldn't count in my book if I get skunked.

ok ....first seal your pick up bed with silicone .....next fill it with water ....park inside a trailor with a refer unit on it and set the temp at 30 degree's leave in for a couple days .....then drive to elevenmile get some help with unloading your ice block into the water....as soon as you get in the water drill your hole and have someone push you off !!!!!!!! you could be on ice in only a few days ......
