We are heading to Lake Powell Via Alamosa on Friday. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best route and where to camp. We will be staying on our Pontoon boat and shore camping. Any fishing Suggestions would be great.

Thanks,
Shaun and Brenda

I assume you are going to put in at Halls Crossing. I would guess Page is a little bit farther. Use Mapquest for directions.

Its going to be crowded this weekend. Go as far south (from Halls Crossing) as you can manage gas wise(how much gas can you carry?), to get away from people and the fishing pressure. North of Bullforg is supposed to be getting muddy.

Wayneswords has some links to which canyons have good camping, as well as info on what you need to bring, how to catch fish, fishing reports....etc.

Camp at Stanton Creek, It's cheap and primitive. Put in at Bullfrog, it's the easiest to get to from Alamosa. Look for the Striper boils all up and down the lake. We ran into the most in Good Hope Bay, about 20 miles down from Halls. Fishing the boils is a blast!! Have fun!
