I haven't had near the experience as Pete, but dry fishing for panfish is a pretty awesome experience too... Might not be as cool as high range brookies, browns, cutbows, cutbrowns, rain-browns, cutty-rain-browns, etc... but still fun. It's neat to bring the fish out of their world into "your world" and take your fly.
