The first episode of season 6 is an ice fishing one. It'll have Terry Wickstrom, Bernie Keefe, and Nate Zelinsky as guests. Sounds like a good show!

I'm stoked for the new season to begin. This winter, I'll be labeling my first 5 season dvds, and watching all the ice off and run off episodes again ^-^

If you don't watch, and are a Colorado angler. You're missing out..

Yeah, how could they think that getting a few guys from the Colorado fishing, and showing nice Smallmouth and Lakers being iced (not to mention the Lesser Perch), would make a decnt show ::)

I liked it. However, if you haven't watched before, not all shows are like that. They usually pick a public Colorado water, and show techniques for catching there. In the past 6 seasons, they've covered just about every type of local fishing there is.

Normally I am with James on things Fishful Thinker. But like the Guide/Walleye epsiode from last season, this one was not my cup of tea. Too many guys to try to fit into a 30 minute show.
I agree that they have covered about every type of water. So now what? I am sure chad and crew have asked the question.
For me I would like to see theme’s recycled, with new locations.
Being a river spin fishermen, I would love see shows filmed on boulder creek, Waterton canyon, SP through Denver, Poudre through Fort Collins, Yampa, Cheeseman Canyon… the list of colorado waters is almost never ending.
Things don’t always have to be reinvented… just tweeked.
My favorite typ of shows:
novice/avg joes fishing with Chad. Picking the Poudre, Muilti-species challenge, etc…
Or the totally different technics… Spin/Fly on the dreamstream, Spin/Fly on the Colorado.

Yeah, it wasn't my favorite episode, but thought it was funny. I've heard a lot about Bernie from this site, and it was cool to see him on. I missed almost all of Mt. States Fishing, but liked the ones I've seen, so it was cool to see Terry on there as well.

Boulder Creek would be great! I'd like to see the S. Platte through Denver as well. Especially if they nailed some of the river Samllmouths.. He did the Yampa, and that is one of my favorite episodes. Would be cool to see them go back. Maybe higher and get more Northerns and some Smallies.. Actually would love to see Stagecoach's tailwater..

Picking the Poudre was great one. Also really liked the two where he fished the Big T and Poudre during run off (learned a lot from those) His first Poudre episode (jerk baits along the bank) is one of my favorites as well.

I'd also like to see a couple float tube shows.

Those of you with show ideas ought to contact Chad directly - I believe his username on here is Fishful Thinker so you could shoot him a PM. I know he's always casting about for new show ideas (sorry, couldn't help myself) and tries hard to make the shows relevant to Colorado anglers.

My question is, how this episode is relevant to what the show is supposed to be about. Teaching the world to fish big, want to learn to catch bigger fish? Aren't those the quotes of the show? Was this a what not to do episode?

I like the guests that were on the show, but as mentioned before, too many to really fit in a 30 minute show. I usually look forward to learning a lot from the episodes with these guests on them. Parts of it were funny, but there was very little good information. This is my first year ice fishing, so I was hoping to learn something that I could apply the next time I was on the ice. I didn't. I don't think chad even caught a fish?

Just my $0.02. Hope the rest of the season gets better.

For those that watched it...thank you. This show was indeed a departure from what we normally do on FTTV, and from the response I've received, we won't stray again. Education is the cornerstone of all things Fishful and this show did not include much of it. You want the truth? Nate, Terry, Bernie and I fished for 4 hours and that is about all we could catch...most likely because we were having too much fun messing around, reminiscing, and sabotaging each other. At least Nate had a handle on the "lesser perch"; Terry got two, Bernie and I blanked (although I had an MRT at the hole but failed to land him...so there, Bernie!).

It started out to be a story about my education as an ice rookie, how these guys all taught me and what viewers could learn from that, but it quickly deteriorated into shenanigans because it was the first time we all fished together. With close friends like the four of us are, it was a rare treat and catching fish was not as high on the priority list as it perhaps should have been.

I guess the real education here is that fishing is supposed to be fun, and we had fun...lots of fun...chasing tiny little perch in crappy weather.

If you want to give FTTV another chance, the next show is back to our normal gig of education...this time it's about choosing and using electronics. Dan Swanson is the guest. Thanks for your honest feedback, and please do email show ideas as the good FishDr suggested. CL
