Just got back from hitting a local spot. After a long day of school I was ready for some fishing. It rained for a bit but didn't last long. Ideally I wanted a walleye but I knew a decent trout was possible so I kept that in the back of my mind. I put in a couple hours of daylight and an hour and a half of darkness or so. Didn't get anything once it was dark but during the daylight some small smallies were caught and one hard-fighting cutbow. They all came on a shadow rap. Today was a reminder of how crappy shadow rap hooks are. I've seen small wipers bend the hooks and now a cutbow. Definitely upgrade them if you use them. I still need to upgrade mine.

Sweet report... Biggie, while i know the shaddow rap already sinks, I actually wanted it to sink a bit faster.. those suckers are just too slow, so adding a heavier gauge hook is a great way I think. I haven't tried it yet, but fully planned to after last year being a tad frustrated with the super slow sink rate.

Not a bad outing. The shadow rap is a hard one to modify hooks on as it already sinks. Look into the new shadow rap shad, its a slow floater, can put a little heavier hook on it to make it suspend.
I definitely want some of the shadow rap shads. I could be wrong but the stock hooks actually look like they might be a little better than on the shadow rap.

Thanks. Yes it does sink super slow so I wouldn't mind throwing on some heavier hooks.

I know. I fish the BPS lazer blades with crap hooks, crap split rings, and crap duo-locks.

Have lost nice fish with one or all of those points failing. I dont change the hooks until after I lose them-
Like the Bps jerks but I agree no need for changing until the hook actually fails. Cuz I'm buying cheap baits gotta take what it gives good or bad.
