Fact or fiction?  Is the fishing better by the full moon?  The conventional wisdom says its better for walleye, by the light of the silvery moon.  I have read tons of articles that say other species including catfish and bass is better 2-3 days before and after the full moon. What is your experience?

I know that I have gotten my butt kicked fishing the daytime during full moons...so much so that I try and avoid fishing daytime during full moon periods...maybe it is just coincidence...but it is definately in my head...and I am not much of a night fisherman but will do it on occasion...

Everytime I get skunked it seems to be a full moon that night, so I'm with ya on that. But if I dont get skunked I usually dont check that kind of thing.

My son gives me a bad time about it, but I firmly believe that the daytime fishing is best during the dark of the moon. Then it's best early morning and lake afternoon-the times I prefer to fish anyway. If I do go fishing during the full moon stage, I either fish at night, or sleep in or have a leisurely breakfast as the bite isn't likely to start 'til mid morning, then, not all that great. Maybe it's just that I have more faith in the dark moon phase and work harder at my fishing then.

Tonight (May 23) is the full moon. I for one will go fishing and check it out. Of course, it's not a fully objective test as the weather is changing today, but I'll see. I hit Pella for 3 hours on Sat. morning and caught 10 fish (and mssed 2 others). I'll use the same baits and see what happens...

Fishing in the daytime during a full moon period positively sucks!
Well, the fishing was definitely a bit slower for me last night at Pella versus Sat. morning. I do think that the afternoon/early evening frontal system moving through may have contributed. I only managed 2 small (about 10") smallmouths this evening.

Oh well, still a great evening to be outside.
