I just found out this morning that a friend of mine is going to be in estes park on sunday. he asked me to come up there to take him fishing. i'm looking for a place to go up there. would like a river to flyfish and maybe lake suggestions other than estes.

Actually, since you're not posting a report, I think this is the right spot.  :)

There are plent of choices for river/fly fishing, w/ the most obvious being the Big Thompson. If you're looking to avoid a crowd, try up in the park (Rocky Mt. National). A couple of my buddies just did well up by the YMCA, and if you're alot better caster than I am, the North Fork in Glen Haven (just 10/15 minutes outside of Estes) will always produce. Those are the 3 uncrowded areas I'd recommend.

As far as lakes other than Estes, there's Mary's and Lilly Lake.

I'm not much of a river angler, but let me know if you have any questions.
