ItIs it legal to fish off a bridge? The bridge is located on a county dirt road where the water comes from a lake into the arkansas river. Thank you for any information you can provide.

I don't know my butt from a hole in the ground; but I once caught a 22" cuttthoat just downstream of the bridge that crosses the south platt in chatfield state park. I would show you the pic, but ; as I said, I don't know ........ at least I didn't get shunked or you wouldn't have this valuable info.

Nothing in the CPW fishing brochure specifically mentions that you can't fish off bridges...however, I would think if you couldn't fish from the bridge it would be posted as such. Depending on the area, I wouldn't do it for safety reasons. Some of those bridges are quite narrow.

May be a CDOT rule against stopping or standing on a bridge...tried Googling it, but no luck...

Should be a sign saying "no fishing from the bridge" if not allowed. If it doesn't, then go for it. Landing fish might be a bigger problem.

Amen to this! I've never had much luck getting them up to where I was fishing from!

Thanks everyone for the info. I have caught some good sized catfish off this bridge in the past and I think I will keep fishing off it till I am told by someone with authority not to!!! Thanks again!
