Are there any fishing secrets anymore? You know, those bits of knowledge that only a few know and can drastically increase one’s hookup ratio. The difference between learning new techniques and a fishing secret depends on who you’re asking. It’s hard to imagine anglers don’t have secrets that they’ll take to the grave while it’s equally hard to imagine an angler giving up every trick in the book. Now it may have taken some time to learn those fishing secrets and to give them up so readily isn’t an option but pointing the lad in the right direction at least leaves it up to them to stumble across what some may call a “fishing secret”. Gauging whether or not someone is worthy of such knowledge is difficult when on a fishing forum for reason there are those whom could care less about the fish or fishery. Some good old fashioned research and more time out on the water makes discovering those fishing secrets more likely. Unfortunately, I see many anglers think if they ask nice you’ll catch them up to speed. Thank god it doesn’t work that way and would encourage some solid input if you have it. Helping your fellow angler succeed is good etiquette and good karma. Are there any fishing secrets anymore? Plenty of secrets out there that I hope to learn. Tighlines fellas!

This post feels like an amateur blog attempt.....
Maybe so but working towards piecing together a well constructed blog is something I'd be interested in..... practice makes perfect and thought such an idea was interesting enough to humor writing about. Thanks for the input and hope all of you are finding some fish!

The best fishing secret of all is time spent on the water.

Nothing replaces that.

So is knowing when and what to share with whom. Keep working at it young buck. Time on the water, research and right time right place will make all the hard work pay off. Tips from others always help, but if you don't know when and how to apply them they are just words.....

Attention to the small details:

4ft of water rather than 8ft or vice a versa

1/8 ounce rather than 1/4 ounce or vice a versa

fast jig or slow jig

location, location

weather patterns

certain times of the year

enough split shot when nymphing (I'm a hi-stick, short liner)

ect, ect...

There are days when I am a veritable GOD, even among some of the top sticks around.

Then there are days when I'm a WORM licking the toilet bowl-

When and where are the most important. Then comes what. Even then it dont always work out.

Sure there's secrets.
I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you, Lol.

Seriously the most important thing is having the right attitude and to enjoy learning the many different fisheries, patterns and locations that work as every specie and location can take a different technic.
The greatest part is the Journey.

I've always viewed fishing more as a competition with the fish than with other fisherman, especially in fisheries where the resources are very abundant. I've got a youtube channel and I've also shared my Louisiana fishing tips in newspaper articles and forum posts.

In Colorado, we seemed to do better than most of the boats around us, and our methods produced limits even when most other boats were struggling that day. Since we've done so well in Colorado I'm thinking about summarizing our techniques for a blog post in time for open water fishing to heat up in the Spring. Any interest?

You are more than welcome to post a blog and post it in the Fishing Chronicle section, and keep anything to do with religion and politics in the proper section in the Off Topic section to keep from derailing OP's thread...or it will be deleted promptly!!!
