My wife wants to go river fishing tommorow but gets easily bored when she is not catching anything. Is there a river within 2 hours of denver that is known for "numbers"? If I can keep my wife catching 1-2 small trout every hour she should be happy and I will be able to fish longer.

Any suggestions on where to go?

thanks,

Michael

Ark is good in Pueblo. Easy to catch fish there on a fly or fly under a bubble. Quite a drive from denver though. Hopefully someone else comes up with a good place.

Hmm.. Platte river downstream from Deckers is beautiful, but can be tough (well educated fish).

If they are letting water down from Strontia, the river above Chatfield can yield small but frequent fish on Panther Martins or similar (either walk up from the bridge in the park, or down from the Audubon center parking). Last time I was over there, there was almost no flow.

Clear creek or Bear creek? Not tried either..

thanks guys.

I convinced my wife that the fishing will be slow and she probably will not want to go. I guess this means I am going to Antero/11 mile.
