For 15 years after I moved from Gunnison I've been going back and hitting BM on the second or third week of april for big lakers. This year I decided to do something different and head towards the south east to visit a friend. I dropped over 8000 feet in elevation and drove 22 hours round trip for a day and a half of fishing. It was worth it.

Cut shad and circle hooks for the cats, twister tails for the Crappie. Crappie were pre spawn/spawn and on fire. Cats were out of 3 to 10 feet of water, most were between 2 to 6 lbs but I did manage a few good ones. I was stoked to get a nice flathead, it was my first.
Brought home fifteen 5 lb cats and 30 crappie.
