Late report, but I did get out last Sunday for my first day out on a front range creek. The gages still said ice, but I had to get out of the house and see for myself.

I was rewarded with what appeared to be midge and small mayfly (PMD?) hatches and fish taking flies off the surface, never would have guessed it for this creek in the middle of March. Small adams worked on top and zebra midges worked under the surface. Emerger patterns (or the ones I tried at least) did not hook up.

Nothing big was caught, but it was a nice day and I caught my first fish of the year and a couple more. I know a little behind a lot of you. Enjoy the spring everyone.
