Arrived at 6:30 and stayed until about 10:30. It wasn't too windy until
about 9:00. Four of us caught about 25 fish. Ice was about 15" thick.
Most of the fish were in the 10-13" range. There was jeep racing going
on but it didn't seem to make any difference. A deer was out in the middle
of the lake. We went to help it stand up again but as we got closer, we could see that it had broken at least one of it's legs. An officer came a little
later and put that poor thing out of it's misery. Too bad. Beautiful animal.

I hate to hear that. I know that lake was very slick last Thursday when I was on it. I crashed a couple of times. Once my bucket slipped out from under me while I was standing on it to get leverage on the hand auger. Didn't want to break the new gas auger in on that lake. Lots of rocks in the ice. Glad you got a bunch of fish despite everything else going on.

We all were wearing ice cleats. My son got up for just a minute and his
bucket went screaming down the lake and over the dam. The ice wasn't
really that hard to get through. I just would stay away from the highway
side of the lake, so you won't dull your blades from the sand that blows
onto it.
