Hope everyone out there is having a good, and safe 4th of July. Well. I just couldn't stand being this close to a body of water and not fishing it, so we went out to Cherry Creek.

What a way to start the holiday! My twins and I fished from 6:15 till 10:45, and had a blast.  Overall, we caught 21 fish, with our usual presentations. Nothing really big, except the 27inch carp landed by Jeremy. Man, did we have a great time with that one! Took him about 10 minutes to get him in.  It was extra exciting, the first 3 or 4 minutes, cus we didn't know what we had at first.   We were hoping for a big old "eye", and it really stayed down low.  once we saw that it was a carp, the pressure was off, but not the fun ;). A big fish like that really wears out the arms of a 9yr. old.  Got him landed took some pics, and resumed to search for walleyes.

Once again, I can't say enough, how impressed  I am with this body of water. I know some people are having a tough go of things out there, but not us. Most of the eyes were between 14-16ins. , but we got a few 17-18. Got a few we still need to eat, so we released everything. The boat next to us was talking to a guy that got a 20incher near the east boat ramp.  I may try to scout out some different areas tommorrow morning. Hope to see ya out there Jay! I promised my youngest daughter she could go tommorrow, but I may have another 1 or 2 on board.

Man, those rangers are sure earning their pay today. Everytime we heard the sirens, Our boat started singing the theme from" COPS" , bad boys, bad boys, what'ca going do!  We really were singing it quite abit. I was very surprised, however, that there wasn't anyone at the boat ramp at all when we left. ( except another Ranger boat getting ready to keep the peace!

Once, again hope all is well for everyone out there, and " God Bless America!"  :)

Oh, I almost forgot. the only dissappointing part of the day, was when we first got there. I back the boat into the water, and guess what we find on the dock? An empty Heineken bottle & a bunch of spit "chewing tobacco". I guess it was definately a teachable moment for my kids on what " not to do".

Other than the trash on dock, sounds like a great day. That lake has fished hard this spring and the past few years it has been hard all year it seems except for crappie. Its about time it turned on. I hope to get out there on Wednesday during the day and she how we do. I could sure use a bunch of crappies.......and I am still looking for a 5 pound plus walleye.
