they are definitely widespread (too much actually), and there are some excellent true fisheries for them in the rivers and in select reservoirs. We have superb smallmouth bass fishing in one river (the yampa) with fish 3-5 pounds pretty common. Pike fishing is another thing we have good in colorado...our state record is one of the few over 30 pounds in the US...and there have been MANY more caught over 30 pounds here that have been released....a 54" pike estimated at 40+ pounds was landed last year in the yampa and released. So we have good pike fishing too. Yeah...we have okay bass fishing- nothing like texas though. If you come to colorado, trout and pike are our specialties IMO.
