I spend alot of time fishing for bass and walleye, half of which is from shore. I never seem to catch Wiper? I have one 5lb Wiper to my credit that hit a Zara Spook at Pueblo. Basically I suck ??? Any tips would be appreciated!

I know they can be caught from shore, because I see them crashing thru shad all the time? I know bait fishing is effective for them, but I can't stand still, I have to be moving and casting. You would think as much time as I spend throwing Rattle Traps and Spinner baits I would get lucky every once in a while?

To stereo type people I'd have to say the Koreans I see shore fishing at North Sterling and Bonny know what they are doing. They are always reeling in a fish! I think alot of them use cut baits or shrimp or something like that.

I know we had luck one day at North Sterling drifting shrimp we had bought at the grocery store.

Some of my best days of wiper fishing were when I was using fresh shrimp I bought at the Asian Market at Federal & Alameda. We broke off the heads and used the tail section. Crawdads would have been just as effective, I'm sure, but I haven't found a reliable crawdad hole. We just tossed 'em out weightless and waited for the fish to pick them up. It was a hoot!

I heard about and saw pictures of some big Wipers that were caught last fall at Aurora. They came in shallow as the DOW was stocking lots of small trout. Most including a 17 lber were caught on Rainbow colored swimbaits. I think Donald got a big wiper there around the same time also?

Neal is right...find the stocking schedule for any reservoir that has wipers...the DOW dumping trout off the boat ramp at Aurora is like ringing the dinnerbell for big wipers and walleyes...

give cherry creek a try too, from the pier thing by the marina, at night, with the biggest size silver husky jerk, also have gotten a few good ones when those nasty spiring T-storms keep you off of the golf course during the afternoon

The worst carnage I have ever watched personally was at spinney! I was there one afternoon when they stocked 50,000 5" Bows. They were getting hit from above and below  The Pike were having a field day and that was nothing compared to the damage the Pelicans and the Gulls were doing

I found a couple of the 6" Castaic Rainbow colored swimbaits that usually cost about $15 a peice marked down at a Kmart for only 6.99. They look like the real thing under water!

You know, I thought I read somewhere that the DOW had realized this predetory feedfest problem which occures with the daily stockings, and were going to start stocking at night. Wasupwitdat?

I have a ton of big silver Rapalas marked up with red and black Sharpies to make them look like stocker bows...I do the same thing with silver rubber shad baits...I have some great baby rubber shad baits dolled up and you would swear they were a dead baby rainbow laying in my tacklebox...fish jumped all over them at the Delaneys through the ice...flies and lures only...I cant wait to try them around the carnivores at Spinney in about a month...I heard from good sources that Spinney is developing some good cracks and openings...throw in some south park wind and instant opener...this might be one of those years for the earliest opener ever...April 9th is the earliest I can remember...sorry got off track there...I have a friend that kids me about my reverence for Spinney...when he asks me about it...the question is always the same from him have you been to Mecca (the holy land) lately?

When the DOW stocks lakes with fingerlings or fry they expect only 3% to survive thats why they stock so many into the lake. If all 50,000 survived that would hurt the fishery instead of helping it by providing food and new fish.
