Got out last weekend. Got to the lake at 1, stayed till dark before hiking back down. Targeted brookies. "Drifted" (with the wind) and slow stripped nymphs and chronomids DEEP!-no need for indicators, bites were very aggressive. The two of us landed a few each. I had a nice 11+"er get off at shore. Good thing I'm buying a new net this evening :D. Lake was half frozen (As I expected) and moderate sunlight all day. I think the fish were still hiding under the shelf. Makes sense-I've seen a hawk scoop them out of this water more than a few times ;) Sparse surface activity, even though we saw two small hatches during the afternoon and again in the evening.
At any rate, going to hit some creek action tomorrow. Excited to put on my waist highs and strap up my boots for some CRAZY 72 CFS flows :biggrin1: Hoping the change in weather this evening will keep the brownies biting and the people away.
