I like smaller to medium sizes, a 6 is usually my favorite. it depends some on the size of the natural forage available, the areas i fish usually hold fairly small shad. smaller flies cast easier too, and hurt less when you smack the back of your head while trying a 90 foot double haul...
for wipers my favorites are tied with a little bit of red, or sometimes chartruese. white has produced well for me this year. if you tie them (or even buy them) look for ones that are fairly slim in profile...this is very important. heres two pics i think ive might have posted earlier of two size 6s, both dry and wet.
Them wet clousers remind me of a cat after a dunking in a pool. all bug eyed and hair plastered to thier body.. Hmmm,, Maybe a new name for the clouser is in order,, lol.....nooo I'm not even going there..
