Just in case you were wondering. This was taken 2/10; it Was 40 degrees and windy. You’ll need to go higher for safe ice.

Gross ice is always sketchy at best. Even when there is a good cap on it the water level fluctuates alot making it sketch. I have iced it before. Had fun, caught cookie cutter lakers. Not worth it though. In Colorado Gross is the only place I have fished where I drilled through 12 inches of ice and still felt the need to check everywhere I went. There are lakes at lower elevations that form a more reliable lid.

have fished gross for thirty years and never had a problem, keep hearing bs stories of water being ten ft below the ice with is just that bs, gross is deep thats why it doesn't freeze well have caught many decent size lakers there just have to fish were others dont
