late season will bring the need for an extension and also there are often bare spots down low that you need to sled across like at jefferson

Ive done that trip a few times - typically pretty good fishing

It depends where you can get to with your truck/trailer as how far the sled ride is. Dont push it - when the drifts start, there you sit.

The ride is about 12 miles if I remember correctly. If you break trail into BCL, the there are some big drifts - especially when you pop onto the lake.

The east side has treated me pretty good - south end is shallower - right out from the dam is always a good place to start.

DO NOT GO ALONE!
Too many things can go wrong - not a fun place when the weather is bad.

this is excellent advice, i hope people listen to it...sometimes the weathere gets downright crazu up there... a GPS would be a really wise investment as well...just in case you get up there and stuck in one of the infamous 'whiteouts" that that are is known for...
