From the sounds of things, and volume of PM's I've gotten on chambers for this weekend, it sounds like there may be quite a collection of forum members up there this weekend - Mostly on Saturday, but some on Sunday. Perhaps we should have some way to recognize one another? Any suggestions (name tags aren't visible from a distance).

If you see a red 89 honda civic with U of Washington and U of Wisconsin stickers on rear window, that's mine. I'm 6' call, red hair, black pants/boots, forest green parka and hood or black hat with ear flaps. Shoul have blaze orange hand warmer tube on my belly and pull a jet sled. During summer, you might have seen me buzzing around to various lakes with a 14' canoe on top of the civic in Fort Collins and Loveland.

I'm in for sunday. Heading to dowdy on sat but I'll be at chambers on sun. I have never been to or fished chambers before. Can you drive all the way to the lake or do you have to hike in. If so how long. What works well up there in regards to takle and bait? I'm all for catching trout and would love to go after some lake trout but don't know if I have right stuff. I have a couple ice rods of different action but none are very long. Does line matter? Don't care what species just wanna fish. Sorry about all the questions, any help is much appreciated.

I drive a tan 94 ford explorer with a "tivo" bumper sticker and ski rack. I will be wearing black pants, a white and blue jacket, and if my trip on saturday goes well there might be a young lady at my side.

you have to hike in. Most on foot part at campground entrance. 1/4 mile to lake, and then across to north side of lake is about 3/4 to 1 mile, but usually not too bad a hike unless your sled has sandpaper skids.

Sleds are great for getting your gear on the ice. Don't weight you down like a backpack, and if you get the right one, they're easier to pull than a pack is to carry.

You can get a Jet Sled Jr. at Jax, or Sportsman's warehouse. Both are really light, fit in a honda civic hatchback, and slide super easy. The Jr. version will carry enough gear for one person, and I think costs about $20.

I've carried everything into chambers in a pack, and it was more effort than pulling twice as much gear in my sled. Put the pack in my basement, and keep the sled in my car, now.

There are at least two other forum members going on Sunday, that I'm aware of. I'm waiting to see which day most people will be going before I fully decide.

I've clearly visited the forum too much, today. Lots of people planning to go both days, so perhaps we should start suggesting some way to recognize one another from a distance? Most people can manage a white rag or t-shirt tied around an arm or something like that, I think.

I hear that, Cut! I am Jonesin' so bad for ice that I have been addicted to various forums for several days now. One ice hits good I will be on forums less...

I am nearly certain I will be at chambers this weekend, and I guess I am leaning toward Sunday, now (might try parvin or Dowdy on Saturday morning, however. I will tie a white rag around my arm and will be wearing a blaze orange handwarmer tube around my waist. I'll probably just do that the whole season.

scchase, Reg and I are going up on Sunday. Leaving from Greeley if you want to connect, I'm sure it's OK with Reg. PM me and let me know.

I've only fished there once, in the spring, open water, so I really haven't much of a clue where to start. Where we fished, we did catch some Macs, but I'm thinking this might be a bit of a hike. BUT, if it's where the fish are, I'm there!!.

I mainly would like to target Lakers, but hey, fish are fish, and anything through the ice are a blast!

JohnnyO - still have your email address from some communication last year about williams fork. I'll send you a pdf map I put together for someone else showing what I have caught where. The north end is by far the most productive for lake trout. Rainbows take almost everything you drop down the hole on the south end of the lake. There are some areas I haven't personally explored that might be worth an experiment. CDOW biologist thinks the kokes that are stocked in Chambers congregate on the East side of the lake, in the bay formed by the Dam by the Joe Wright Creek inlet. There are also two stream channels that run out into the lake in the bay on the southwest portion of the lake where water depths are around 15-30 feet or so, that people don't seem to fish much. Not sure if there is a reason they don't, but it might be worth a try.

Anyway, look for the map in your email (not PM).

Yup, right by the gate for the road to the campground (Trap Creek Inlet). The Northwest Corner is probably the deepest water I've found on Chambers. I talked to someone who said the hooked and lost something really heavy over there.

Hey cutthroat! Everything is ready, the gang assembled, and we're heading up to Chambers tommorrow Morn! I doubt I'll get any sleep! Are you still going, if so what time are you getting there? If you don't mind us tagging along, I'd sure like to fish the lake with someone who knows it. Reg, scchase, and another from Ft.collins, along with myself.
