It's Fall time to fish Bass!!!!!!

Saw Lonetree yesterday. Level is way down. Fishing from shore was impossible, as far out as I could cast it was about 3 ft. deep. Possibly with a boat you could do OK at the north end in deeper water, otherwise forget it. (Boat ramps are still usable.)

A stocking truck came out and dumped in a huge load of little catfish. Gotta feed those wipers!

I have caught nice bass (3 - 4 lb.) out of both Boyd and Lon Hagler, but not on a reliable basis. On any given day you could connect with a few, but you could just as likely get skunked.

I am not going to tell you how I know that.

Have you tried Dixon lake on the west edge of Fort Collins? I don't know what it has been doing lately, but earlier this year the guys were going out there and giving the bass lots of exercise ;D on a regular basis.

Sorry for the delay, had to dig up a Ft. Collins map to make sure I got the streets right.

Go west on Drake Rd. through Ft. Collins until you get stopped by a T intersection with Overland Trail at the extreme west side of town. Turn right (north) on Overland just a few blocks and then turn left (west) on Cty. Rd. 42C. I don't know if it has an actual street name or not. Follow 42C until it turns left and passes by Dixon Lake. (Reservoir, actually.) There is a turn-in where you can go in and park.

It doesn't look like much, but there are bass in it and they are catchable. Topwater poppers provide a lot of fun, and they will take spinnerbaits and plastic worms as well.
