Went and fished Joshs Pond in Broomfield today. Not a bad little place caught several hand size blue gills, a 10" channel cat, and a few 10" bass. Only one problem a group of about 6 people were take home every small bass they caught. This really bites me. How can we fish for big fish if people harvest under size fish. I tried to call the D.O.W. be there close on the weekends.

How does everybody handle this when they see it?

East on Miramonte off of 287 in Broomfield. From Joshs Pond you can see Sternes. It's a small 3 acre pond. A good place to take the kids. Lots of Blue gill, Turtles, Bull Frogs, Cat fish, and Bass. Not big fish (cause everybody takes the small one home).
But good fishing.

Josh's Pond was one of my fomer "lunker" spots and 18 inch bass were not uncommon. In 2003 the aerator system failed which wiped out everything but the carp and catfish.

Restocked in 2004 with finergling bass and a few forage fish, it will take quite a while (if ever) for this lake to regain its past glory.

Taking out the smaller fish may seriously hamper this lakes comeback efforts. I wish the DOW would post temporary signs explaining when a lake is restocked pleading with folks not to take fish.

Josh's Pond is fairly small, even by my urban lake standards.

I used to live in that neighborhood (by broomfield high school), but can't think of any pond in that area.

Used to fish this pond when I lived in Broomfield, especially during the days of bikes and middle school homework. There were some big bass in there, but I mainly fished it for little channel cats. Those were fun.

Wouldn't know what to do if I saw people taking home small bass. As far as I can remember, it doesn't have a length limit or anything of that sort posted anywhere. I'd say if you're not in the position to say anything, it's best to leave it to the authorities.

Went back after work today, fished for a couple of hours. I caught 6 10" bass. The wife caught a 18" catfish, my daughter caught a 16 1/2" catfish. Between my wife and kids they caught 20 small blue gills, cats, and 1 small crapi . Nothing big but the cats. Over all a great couple of hours of fishing

Sounds like it's still the pond I used to visit. Way to go, you took the family.

Catching cats during the day? Must be a nice little pond. I should take my son there this weekend.

How's the fishing pressure during the weekend there?

He told me he wants to catch a meow-meow fish. Hahah

I take the wife & kids if it's a place that they can bait fish. We went yesterday for 6:00PM - 8:00PM. On the weekends it doesn't seem to have a great deal of fishing presure.

Cool. Thanks-

It'll be a catch and release. It's been a while since my son has caught any fish. (Just like daddy)

I use alot of spinner baits. Down size your bait to the size of fish. Blue gill and cats were hitting worms, salmon eggs, and shrimp.
