Nothing new to add about the rig but you'll be happy with what you've decided ^^^^.
I have a 6 year old and this kind of set up has her hooked (sorry, couldn't resist) on fishing. I also have a 3 wt for her now but keep the closed face reel with us to use on the fly rod if we're at a pond or lake rather than a stream.
