Long time, no posts. I finally remembered my password for this account after being unable to access it for some time (Dissident was the pseudonym I used while unable to access this account).

While cycling on trails around a public waterway in the Loveland/FoCo area, I came across, no joke, a group of Koi that were easily 10lbs+ each feeding on yearling shad in the midst of a large school of common carp. the questions I have are:
1. What is he policy about releasing them if I'm lucky enough to hook one?
2. Is there a record of any kind for Koi in CO, or do they simply fall under the same class as common carp.
3. Are they considered an invasive or endangered species?
4. Is there anything specific I should know about pursuing them before I go after them?

Any info or experience is greatly appreciated,
Ephemeral

Would Mr. Ewert care to weigh in with the DOW perspective on if koi are considered to be common carp? I'd be very interested in the official position of the state.
