Hey people, having a hard time deciding where to go this week. Are the Kokanee shallowish and getable from shore at wolford or green mile or shadow mtn yet? the inlets/outlets? don't have to be spawning but I'd love to actually get some at any of those places. what say you, go now or wait another couple weeks?

They are starting to move in at the lower mtn lakes...but a good cold snap will get them to hasten their death march to spawn. Caught a few at a local-ish hole after sundown... (Big clue when you should target them)

Every body of water has different timing. For example, at Blue Mesa, they will start running in the middle of August. Up here at Dillon it doesn't start till the middle of October.

Scratch "green mile" off your list for places to fish for Kokanee. It's been a full cycle since they cut stocking by 2/3's. This spring, zero Kokanee were stocked.

FYI was in SE Wyo this weekend, the spawn is over. just a few crusty stragglers left. everyone was surprised it started 3 weeks ago.
